Education technology (EdTech) has become a core part of the primary school classroom due to its personalisation, interactivity and automatization potential. However, it has not improved learning outcomes, EdTech ecosystems are still fragmented and technology is not accessible to many schools. At the core of these problems lies the overuse of personal devices (like laptops) for the wrong learning activities, where other solutions offer a more value.
Qwiz presents an accessible alternative to personal devices for quizzing that integrates well into the existing primary school classroom. Students can quickly answer quiz questions by presenting their Qwiz cubes to the camera. In contrast to personal devices, Qwiz has no startup time, allowing teacher to post a question at any time during the lesson without worrying about distractions or losing time. Featuring the well known multiple choice question format found in many EdTech solutions, Qwiz can be easily integrated into existing EdTech systems and retroactively support existing learning content. In addition to the multiple choice formats, Qwiz has three other formats featuring both collaborative and competitive modes.
The cubes are open source and made of cardboard and therefore allow anyone to produce them. This makes Qwiz both affordable and accessible working towards a future where quality education is accessible to anyone.
